Why does anyone try to justify an abortion by saying the child is "defected"?

While I totally see your point of view and agree that no life should be chosen over another, being a mother I could not bare to see my child suffer in any way. Some people will have an abortion out of sheer convenience. That I believe is absolutely unjustifiable. I do see how it could be understandable to opt for an abortion because you don't want to see your child suffer. If it was me, I would be torn. I don't want my child to ever be in harms way, so either solution will cause anguish.
