Is it feasible to leave an intex swimming pool up in the winter?

I have an intex above ground pool. I am considering leaving it up during the winter. I have heard that I can do that long as I refill it with clean water and dump chemicals in it. My concern is what will happen when the water freezes and then starts to thaw. Some people have told me that nothing will happen to the siding of the pool. and then others say that the ice will rip a hole in the side when it starts to move around during the thawing process. I am tired of having to take down the pool and would like to know if it is ok to leave it up over the winter. Any advice?
