Intermolecular forces and boiling points?

That's not the boiling point of sodium chloride. It's actually the melting point. Same thing for iodine. Sodium chloride has stronger intermolecular forces present between the sodium and chlorine atoms which is why it takes 801 degrees to melt it. It only takes 114 degrees to melt iodine. This means that the intermolecular forces are not as strong.
